BPS Working Party

20 Apr 2013 at Birchington C E Primary

Here at Birchington C E Primary School we have vast grounds and grow our own vegetables. We have a sensory garden, a pond, a log pile, an insect house and now a wormery. Our next step is to create a Wild Garden to encourage insects and wildlife onto our grounds for the children to appreciate. Many of our children are budding young gardeners and we have achieved our Green Flag status three times now. It is very important to us that the children are surrounded by beauty and wildlife, by creating our wild garden this will enable this to happen.

Walpole Park is a unique Regency landscape in the heart of Ealing, London. It was designed by the famous architect Sir John Soane, along with John Haverfield from Kew Gardens. The park is about to begin a Heritage Lottery funded restoration to its former glory. As well as reinstating the Regency vistas the park will become more ecologically sound.
